Mantrailing & Trail Hunt

What is Mantrailing?

Mantrailing is a fun scent-based activity where your dog learns to follow a person’s unique scent and find them. It’s inspired by search-and-rescue work but designed for all dogs—reactive, nervous, young, or old. Dogs work one at a time, so it’s calm, controlled, and confidence-building.

What is Trail Hunt International?

Trail Hunt is another exciting scent sport, but instead of finding a person, your dog tracks a target scent (aniseed) along a trail. It’s great for dogs who prefer not to interact with strangers and easy to practice at home after your intro session.

Both activities give dogs a safe outlet for natural sniffing behaviours and provide amazing mental stimulation.

Mantrailing vs Trail Hunt International

Both of these scent-based activities tap into your dog’s most powerful sense: smell. They’re fun, low-pressure, and designed for any dog, including reactive or nervous dogs. They provide a safe outlet for natural behaviours and give your dog a real job to do.

Most people start with one… and then get hooked on both!

Mantrailing

Mantrailing teaches your dog to follow a person’s unique scent trail and find them. It’s inspired by search-and-rescue work but purely for fun.

  • Intro Session: £65

  • Format: Small group, but dogs work one at a time, so it’s ideal for reactive or nervous dogs.

  • Progression Sessions: £25 per session, roughly 3 hours. You’ll take turns hiding for other dogs while your own dog works their trail.

  • Why People Love It: It’s a team sport! You and your dog work together, and you’ll join a friendly community of like-minded dog owners.

  • When: We aim to run an Intro every 2–3 months, depending on demand.

Trail Hunt International

Trail Hunt is similar but instead of finding a person, your dog tracks down a target scent (aniseed). There’s no stranger involved, making it perfect for dogs who aren’t comfortable with other people.

  • Intro Session: £65 including your Starter Kit (everything you need to continue at home).

  • Format: One-to-one, so the focus is entirely on you and your dog.

  • Progression Sessions: £20 per session, about 2 hours long.

  • Why People Love It: After your Intro, you can easily keep training at home using your kit—though we also run group sessions for ongoing practice.

  • When: Start whenever it suits you—we offer multiple Trail Hunt sessions each week.

Why Try Both?

Mantrailing is community-based and social (for the humans), while Trail Hunt is flexible and easy to continue at home. Both build confidence, focus, and problem-solving skills, and both are incredible mental stimulation for your dog.

Reactive dogs? Nervous dogs? High-energy dogs? These activities are perfect because every dog works individually and everything is done positively.
